In was born in 1965 in Manafwa district and went to school in Shikunga primary school from 1972 t0 1978, Buwesswa primary school from 1979 t0 1979 then joined Senior secondary school in 1979. I finished my Ordinary level in 1982. I then joined high school in 1983 and university in 1985.

I am Mr. Wangotta Michael Masakala; a lecturer of linguistics at Makerere University in the Department of Linguistics, English language Studies and Communication Skills.I have taught linguistics at the university for over fifteen years.My mother tongue is Lumasaaba, spoken on the slopes of Mt. Elgon in Eastern Uganda.This language has four distinct dialects and these are: the southern dialect spoken in Manafwa district, the central dialect spoken in Mbale district, the northern dialect spoken in Sironko dialect and the manjiya dialect spoken in Bududa district. which have partly contributed to the delay on the agreed standard orthography. I speak the southern dialect in which I have done some research. For my M.A, I did research on Lumasaaba Verb extensions. I am also very interested in tone, syntax, sign language and clinical linguistics.
