The last term I spent at SOAS where I studied the Structure of Bantu Languages, General Linguistics and how writing came about in Mesopotamia.
My main interests are language documentation and description, and I hope to contribute to the documentation of a Bantu language or a Native North American language in the future. I am especially interested in how to describe meaning, and the Bantu noun class system really fascinates me.
I am native speaker of Danish, and in my sparetime I work as a translator from English and Norwegian into Danish. I find it funny to see semilaritites and differences between Norwegian and Danish, when it comes to expressions and the connotations of the words. I have put Danish data into Typecraft and did my best to annotate properly. I will put out more Danish data continually. Please do no hesitate if you have any questions about the data, or if you would like me to add constructions.
This term I am working on the semantics of the Runyankore noun class system. I have the pleasure of working with native consultants for the very first time. The database and results will appear on TypeCraft in the future. For my bachelor essay in Social Anthropology, I write about reasons for language death and what impact language shift may have on the ethnic identity of the language users.
