Dictionaries of West-African Languages

I was wondering if it is possible to summarize on this page which lexicons have been produced and which ones are under development. A short bibliography might also be of interest.

as for the plural of lexicon: "Lexicons" returns twice as many Google searches (about 1.5 million) as compared with "lexica". :-)

Maybe we should talk about 'dictionaries' instead of lexica.

Within the NUFU project framework the following products have been produced

Akan Encyclopedic Dictionary (pilot edition of 1700 words)
Gurene dictionary (full publication)
Ga dictionary (full publication, second edition)

Work in progress

Ewe Health dictionary (to be published)
Logba dictionary (an edition which is more of a wordlist type was part of a PhD thesis of Kofi Dorvlo, Leiden); he is currently working on an update for an enlarged edition.

Related work

Bete dictionary (CI), there was an exchange with the NUFU project in terms of visits; dictionary published in Abidjan, CI.
An Akan learner's dictionary was developed at the University of Zurich (word list type with sound files for pronunciation.

GILLBT

about 12 dictionaries of minority languages are in various stages of completion. Some pilot editions (e.g. Adele, Kasem, Konkomba) are available. More details will follow soon.
